Posted on Friday, December 16, 2005 - 19:49 GMT I moved recently and, when hooking up the old Sony tuner, discovered an interesting problem. When the tuner is plugged in (before it's turned on) it makes a clicking sound. When it's turned on, there's a blinking red "P" on the screen that renders all function inactive. Does anyone know what this could mean? I no longer have the manual. thanks!! |

Posted on Friday, December 30, 2005 - 16:57 GMT It might stand for protection. No sound comes from the speakers, just an intermittent clicking sound from within the tuner (almost like its trying to turn itself on and off). |

Posted on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 - 20:51 GMT The operation manual says: A serious trouble has occurred such as overheating or short-circuiting. Refer servicing to qualified person. Check all the wires for touching. Especially the speaker cables at the receiver and the speakers. I have a similar problem. Unpluggin/pluggin back in makes it work for a couple of hours, the P again. I took all the cables out, attached one speaker and used the tuner. Same problem. Something inside is probably short-circuiting. |
