2.1 Sub/Sat ?

Does anyone have a reccomendation for a decent 2.1 sub/sat system somewhere south of $300? I'm not a real audiophile and these will mostly be used for TV & music (jazz/blues/classic rock) at lower to moderate volume.

My living room just really doesn't want to accomodate anything bigger than sattelite mains in order to get good placement.

I'll be hooking them up to a 100W Aiwa bookshelf unit (the kind everybody had in college 10 years ago). Like I said, not really an audio nut.

Thank you in advance. This is an excellent forum you guys have going on.

Very good $100 speakers, just a bit bigger than sats but guarantee will sound a million times better:

Those Dayton subs are out of stock until January, but are usually referred to as the best under-$300 subs. However some users report that they are not packed well so yours could get damaged in shipping, in which case partsexpress.com will reimburse you for return shipping and send you another.

How about a couple Orb Mod1's and the 10" Dayton sub?

Haven't heard the Orbs, but some people seem to be very fond of them. Personally I am a bit skeptical that something that small can really sound that great, but never say never...

A really cheap and impressive alternative would be Acoustic Energy's newly revamped Aego 2 (or Aego M). Brilliant.

You have to hear the Orbs to believe their reputation, Edster. They really do make your ears not believe your eyes and vice versa.
