Help with speaker "clicks"

I recently put together my system as follows:

a pair of Paradigm Titan speakers
Cambridge Audio 340A amp
" " 540C cd player

I'm very happy with the set up, but there's a niggling problem I'm hoping to sort out.

Every so often (~3-5 minutes) one of the speakers will make a clicking noise. It sounds a bit like a loose connection being connected again. This happens when the amp is on, regardless of whether the cd player is.

I was wondering which part of my system is likely to be the problem. All the components are new, and connected with reasonable quality speaker cable (£2 per metre).

I really appreciate any advice, thanks.

Is it a specific speaker that makes the noise?

I'm pretty sure it's just the left hand side speaker that clicks.

Change speakers - if it's still the LH speaker then the problem is in your amp. If noise continues in the same speaker then you'll know where the problem lies.

In these cases it's usually a cold solder joint in the amp. As Rantz said switch speakers, even left to right if you must. If it is still there don't keep playing it. Take the amp in for service. Continuing to use it could damage your speakers.
