Help - novice wanting to learn

I just bought a harman/kardon FL8385 cd player and hooked it up to an old Denon am/fm stereo receiver (635R). So I have hooked up a digital component to an analog...and I plugged the remote control output into the 'tape remote control' on the receiver. I know it's not working the way it should and need to know what I should buy now to make it work. Any help would be appreciated.

Forget the remote control outputs or inputs, they are different brands, they don't work together.

The RCA (line) outputs of the CD player are analog...
