hey been readin alot about this old school orion ive had for years (250 hcca digital referance series) and its supposedly a pretty nasty solid amp supposed to be like 800w rms bridged @ 1 ohm and i just got a set of type e 12's that came with an mtx 600xd (600w rms @ 2 ohms dont know yet if it can take 1ohm) just wonderin what anyone thought would be better to use? of if anyone knows if the mtx can handle less than 2ohms...

the type e's are the 4ohm version so id only be able to get down to 2 ohms anyway any opinions on which'd hit harder?

either way you will be good. the orion is alittle much for those. those subs can only handle 250 rms a piece. I would go with the mtx so you dont fry anything.

As long as you keep the gain low on the Orion use it. That way if you ever decide to upgrade your subs you're set up already. That amp won't even have to work and you'll never run out of power. The other thing you can do is try loading up your amp to 8 ohms (two subs in series). Your distortion will go way down and it should make enough power to run your subs.
