If I install two amps, one for the components and coaxials and another for the 12" sub, do I have to upgrade my car's battery and stock alternator? My car is nissan sentra 95 gle 1.6 liter sedan with stock alternator. my battery is 60 Ah with 100 minutes reserve capacity. I already have a 4-channel amp with 60WRMS x 4 @4ohms. I plan to add another amp for the sub, probably a 200WRMS x 2 @4ohms.
Zane, why he needs a cap? he has a stock alternator, he doesn't needs that.
John i really don't know if your alternator can hold 640w rms, it should but maybe your lights will dim even a little. If i were you i'd upgrade the battery at least and run 4 AWG to flow more current
yes i agree upgradign to 4 gage wire from the alternator to battery is always good and make sure you have some good ground under the hood.. thats always a good idea.. if u want to keep it running a long time without running the motor u could look into an optima battery but other than that you should be fine..
