Just list some good amps in the $300-$400 price range to run a ID MAX 12 dual 2 ohm versian. Im going to wire it into 4 ohm.

It can be a good class D or AB but as long as its clean and at 4 ohm. Just want to look at all your suggestions.

Pheonix Gold Xenon 1200.1 1200 rms into 1-4 ohm. If it is too much power, turn it down. ID Max can handle 1000 rms but would not recommend much more, Polo..

ARC Audio 1500D-R
Avionixx AXT 800.2
Brax X2000.2
Cadence Z9000
MTX Thunder 81000D
Treo SSXD1500.1

BTW why do u want to wire at 4 ohms, u no it will be more expensive

For Sound Quality its probably not audible but is better in long term for your amp if you run it at 4 ohm as it runs cooler and with less heat.

I was considering the Arc Audio 1500-XXK but im not sure. It usually runs around $500 or so.

Dude that is for class A/B amps, a good class D doesn't run on the edge like others, thats why there is so little heat produced. Polo.

I will pass on the alpine. I meant the older mrd-1001 which was better.

275G4, why dont you find me one isaac / goodluck :-)

1000 watts is more then needed. Im going to look for a 600-800 watt amp.

Its just difficult to find it since most amps these days are 1 or 2 ohm for subs. Zapco is not in my price range but thanks.

I shouldnt have sold my ppi pcx 2200. That whould have been ideal. 800 x 1 @ 4 ohm

Im leaning towards the older Rockford Fosgate 601 and 801s 2 channel amps.

601s / 150 WATTS RMS X 2 AT 4 OHMS
300 WATTS RMS X 2 AT 2 OHMS
600 WATTS RMS X 1 AT 4 OHMS IN BRIDGED MONO

801s / 200x2 @ 4 Ohms RMS
400x2 @ 2 Ohms RMS
800x1 @ 4 Ohms Bridged RMS

More then likely i will get one of these. They are alot better then the current rockford anyways.

ya - but i was thinking with a 1000/1 means the amp would have headroom & run quite cool ......

Yes, thats true rovin. However i plan to save some money and get good class AB performance out of the Rockford 801S or 800a2 which are both stable at 4 ohm bridged and are extremely underated and put out close to 1000 watts rms. They are also built in the USA.

I agree with Rovin, get a slightly larger amp and turn it down. Having an 800 wrms amp running at 800wrms is worse then having a 1000wrms at 80% now which one is on the edge? The PG X1200.1 is pretty cheap and sounds great, JMHO..Polo..

No thanks isaac. To big and heavy looking. I will stick with the Rockford 601s or 801s or 800a2

Just deciding out of those models right now. My friend had a couple at one point and they are really nice amps and built very good.

The best deal I saw last year was Zapco 1100.1 amp for $280. I went for Zapco 750.2 amp instead.
Don't think you'll ever get another Zapco amp for under $300.

If you think those fosgates are much beeter then the new stuff, your wrong, you need to go back even farther for the good fosgate stuff, like the ones that look like footballs. and if you were really smart, and wanted old great amps, the orion 250r or the 275r

601s - 600+ x 1 @ 4 ohm bridged

i'll bet that sounds awesome. I had a class D amp stolen awhile back so I hooked my two channel A/B amp to my subs and it sounded better.

Yeah man, class A/B is the way to go if you want the cleanest sound for music. Altough some of the new class D amps from like JL and Arc Audio and Zapco and a few others are extremely clean and not audible at all. Cant tell the differance. Overall i prefer class A/B but class D amps are good for there efficiancy and more forgiving with the Cars Electrical System.

That Orion 2250SX is a better built amp any listed on this thread. That includes anything RF has ever built, old or new.

What impedence do you have it running at ?

Its best to run the 800a2 at 4 ohm so that it runs cooler. Also make sure you install it someplace with enough space for the amp to get ventilation.
