Rovin you said a long time ago that you think Power Acoustik amps are ok cuz ur bro had a few and theyve lasted a while, but all i have now is a Power Acoustik 980 watt max 560 watt rms bridged @4 ohm amp. Im lookin to connect an alpine type r 12" in bridged. Do you think it would sound pretty good sq or spl till i get a job and my license by june? They say Power Acoustik amp specs are overrated. How many watts bridged do you think it will be puttin out that r real?? If i connected a type r to it would it sound better than if i had like a power acoustik 12" to it being that it is the same amp? Will there be a difference? Thanx for all your help Rovin or any body....L8rz

if it is just 1 sub it needs to be a dual 2ohm sub, if not your going to prob burn the amp out if you bridge it with a dual 4ohm sub unless you run it at 8ohms.

i'd guestimate PA does about 70% in actual power

hope u know that the wattage splits with each additional sub

eg - u have a 1000wrms sub
1 sub gets 1000
2 subs get 500 EACH
3 subs get 333.33 wrms EACH

Also its NOT a good idea to mix brand name subs cause different brands play better @ different freqs which would make the overall sound crappy ...
I'd say buy that 1 2ohms dvc R , sell off ur current PA sub , $ave , then buy another 2ohms dvc R & get a JBL gto1200 amp ......

What series is the PA sub.. You'll probably hear a big difference in SQ if its in the same box, and the right specs for the R.. and maybe more SPL...

can't give u a str8 answer cause we don't get PA subs here in my country (@ least i never saw 1 here but saw every other PA product)

- can speak 4 the R cause i have 2 & they are VERY good imo & i'm guessing way better than PA ...

Dont know much about car audio but damn that looks loud! UR ported enclosures are 1.65 cuft and tuned to 35 hz, mine is 2.15 cuft tuned to 32 hz when i get that type r should i use my enclosure or tune it like urs which would be better? My PA Bl 12" is loud but it has no sq worth a sh!t. I can be heard about 4/10ths of a mile(cuz i live where its kinda quiet) but when im driving up u can barely hear it but it still rattles windows of my house whats the problem? Is that what sq is.

Maybe ur box is tuned too low 4 that PA sub 2 perform well in - some subs like my previous pioneer 306 only like a higher tune like 40/45hz , below that u see the sub moving but not hearing it well .

those RCAs are from a company called XSCORPION - really low price about $3 each 15ft long & gets the job done .

If i slot port those subs it should hit even harder but i want 2 try sealed with these just 2 4 the experience .
SQ is like the ability of a sub 2 play all low freq without sounding fuzzy with certain sounds - so far i got not fuzzy bass off these & no port noise with those pvc ports .

Ur box can work cause my buddy Young James also has his in a 2cuft box (his install thread https://www.ecoustics.com/electronics/forum/car-audio/187437.html)

there r programs 2 calculate whats the best freq 4 a particular subs but they r complicated & i don't really use those - i got accustomed 2 what a certain freqs r like & i tune 2 that , it doesn't have 2 be dead perfect its a matter of personal choice really as long as u don't tuned too low that what is rec then u r fine ...

Well thats wut the rec specs r 4 that sub i guess it just sucks! But ppl out here say they like my system to them its the best system around i guess they just go for the loudest? I do get port noise when i turn it up to a certain point, do you know how to fix this? My pvp pipe is 3" wide by 6.5" long. So ur subs would hit harder if it was a sloted port? Are sloted ports better? How do you tune a sloted port if i gotta tune it to 32hz? Rovin when u buy a sub can you put it kinda loud when u first get it or do you have to have it low for a long while b4 u can jam it? Sorry 4 all the ?'s but ur helping me alot. This site is bad.

thats just it 2 some ppl - they think because u can hear it a few hundred ft away makes it the best .

What i did with my pvc pipe was 2 take some sanding paper & smooth out the end/edges , make sure its secured good too with silicone .

Slot ports allow more airmovement & have no 'port noise' .

If ur asking about sub breaking in - controversial subject . Some ppl say play it gently @ 1st others say do what u feel . A sub will break in with time meaning its moveable parts get worn in like a shoe & will function better after being broken in . Been 6wks & my Rs haven't in yet as i do not play it loud every single day or 4 very long periods . Read recently that the quickest way 2 break in a sub is 2 play it 4 some time without it being in box (free air)....

U can learn alot more than what i'm writing here on www.the12volt.com & www.bcae1.com .....

dude look around for a different amp. I had a power acoustik actually two. I had to send the first one in and get a new one and the new one is doing the same thing as the old one. They are garbage. The people that work there can barely speak english and contridict themselves in every email ive gotten. Worst amp ive ever bought. Just my .02 though.
