Go to www.rockfordfosgate.com and go to the woofer wiring wizard section in tech support. It will tell you exactly what you need to know.

Check your grounds and also the gauge/length of wire you are using. I have seen this very same problem many times and a lot of times can be attributed to poor grounds and the wrong minumum gauge of wire. Ventilation also plays an important part in overheating as does the sub you are using, meaning are you overdriving you sub? if so when subs are overdriven the impedance of the sub changes and if the impedance of the sub is lower when overdriven then that could also be a cause of overheating.

4 ga would be the minumum. if you want larger wire then it would be 2 or 1/0. Understand Ryan?
