looks nice.
could flush mount all the amps and such. that'd look nice, too.

would the amps run any hotter mounted like that?

not really, unless you mount them under plexiglass or lexan. at most, you can just add a couple of 80mm computer case fans.. push/pull style to force air through the shroud under the top board.
flush mounting is pretty easy.
use plywood, mark out the openings and cut them, cover the board in vinyl or carpet, then add some stand off legs at the right height.
That's about all ya need to do.
you can shim the components so they all sit at the same height before ya start.
It adds a really nice look, and it makes the trunk more useable because you can toss stuff into the back and not worry about hitting wiring and stuff.
It's all hidden under the top board, which you can easily lift off to get access if needed.
