i'm not too familiar with MMATS subs, but you could ask Jonathan or GW about them, they might know a little more.

i do know they are high-quality stuff, and i think they are more of an SPL company, but i could be wrong.

He has used them though . they r very expensive like JL . Thinking of running a mmats vs jl thread just for da fun of it .

Yep - thats y i haven't posted pics of my ride as yet cause i haven't washed/vacuumed it 3wks now - lol . Everyday i get bz with work bidnes & on here .

Those Philips boxes below r homemade in the late eighties by my older bro (he traded other speakers with a friend & got those @ that time) . A few yrs later i made the front baffle sealed ,rewired it in parallel as well as resealed all internal joints ,applied carpeting & thats when they really started playing loud/sweeet ! .

They r not big coil/magnet subs so they don't required alot of power to play good - in fact u would not believe but another much older bro bought in 1982 a brand new 2 chan Pioneer amp (GM 120 ,60w x 2) & Pioneer casette deck that we use (& still use !) to play both boxes off 1 chan @ home using a 12volt adapter & these boxes absolutely perform like champions with the volume all the way up without distorting !!!!!

HOW'S THAT FOR OLD SKOOL EQUIPMENT !!!

These r the very same boxes if u remember that i told u about that i used to hook up to my TV when playing MK2 on my old SNES !

this forum, Car Audio in particualar, like you said earlier today, is SOOOOOOO SLOOOOOOOOW!!

another thing i have noticed, GW and JON got on like once today, and that was it!!

Such technical debating like that i tend to not pay attention - too much headache , 2 sides to every situation ...

Sometimes GW and JON prolly get tired on the same whining 'ooh i already bought my 4000w max pyramid amp but i don't know what sub to buy ?' or 'what amp will push my mofo cause i want to be heard in like Mexico when i'm out with my homies on da boulevard ?'
or 'i bought 2 15" L7 & when i hook em up to my 4000w boss or lanzar amp they aren't lound as i thought they would be '

when u tell them to get a mono amp that pushed 1000wrms @ 1ohm or wire your 2 DVC subs parallel to 2ohms - they r like whats dvc & what is a ohm ?

I try my patience helping some ppl - but sometimes i just post www.bcae1.com or www.the12volt.com or www.crutchfield.com read the tutorial section !

if my calculations are correct....lol i've always wanted to say that.
you are looking at around 158.3A of current from just your amplifiers at full power.

so just add 158A + your stock alt's amps = what your new HO alt should be around.:-)

i noticed that you are planning to get a Pioneer Premier HU. the one that has 6V pre-outs.
i read on Alpine's website that the 545's gain only goes up to 4V.

i wonder what you would have to do to set the gain right?

" i read on Alpine's website that the 545's gain only goes up to 4V. "

I guess that info fell straight through my fingers - what would be the outcome ???

If it was the other way around that would def b a problem - but i can get away with this case right ?

most people where i live have no concept of SQL, all they want is to be heard from 100yds away.

the only things i have heard at the shop is Oz Audio, Audiobahn(crap), Crystal, Treo, Morel, JL, Focal, DLS, Arc Audio, Alto, Cerwin-Vega, Resonant Engineering, Pioneer, JBL, Digital Designs, Volfenhag(okay), Infinity, Lanzar(crap), Kicker, and i can't think of anymore. lol

i would think that you wouldn't be able to turn the HU up very far w/o reaching max power on the amps.

Can u ask your boys 2morrow about that voltage thing 4 me then ? ....leave it up 2 u 2 git me all worried about that . lol

Would u not say that DD is not in the same class as RE ? or r they more expensive ?

DD's are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more expensive than RE's. the are also more SPQL oriented. they get VERY loud, and have great SQ while doing it. they are no Brahma, IDMAX, XXX, Avalanche, but they sound WAAAY better than say Power Acoustik's or Kicker Solo's.
they are up there with Treos in price.
in fact, they are more expensive. the most expensive sub Treo has is only $1000(haha only $1000).
http://www.ddaudio.com/dd/caraudio/pricesSubwoofers.asp see what i mean?

i'm sure Jon could answer that ?. just post a thread about it.
reason being is i have to work alllllll day tomorrow, and i won't be able to go to my audioshop 2morrow.

Well a 15" mmats juggernauth is tt$3g - actually cheaper than online ... thats suspicious ...

Listen up : I know u r a bright fellow but when in school/class 4get about the forum even when u r on a break - this stuff(along with other guy stuff) will get u easily distracted from school work . School's pretty boring i been there but its a part of life cause in the 5yrs my shop's been open i seen many kids finish school with no qualifications & end up working for minimum wage in the S/markets etc .
In my time i almost slacked way off then pulled up myself when i sat down & think about it ,also from embarassment when i saw others working hard & more others just doing zip . Long story short - i pushed aside my distractions just in time & passed all my subjects . Very fortunate too that playstation & PCs etc wasn't around in my day - LOL

U r my buddy so i just had to say something when i saw u posting from class but I know u definitely already knew all that jive ...Upload

ya know what?....my A6 amp looks way smaller in person.

lol - i hadn't had anything to eat since 10 a.m., so i was kinda hungry, and stuffing my face was first priority. lol

i can't figure out who it is. but i am glad they aren't trying to be a d**k while hiding behind another name.:-)

but it is getting old quick, as it is rather childish.

Upload
it was a really cool movie, makes you want to sell guns!! lol
i really liked it, one of the reasons being that Nicolas Cage is one of the coolest actors ever imo.:-O
i liked how smooth he was even under the most stressful situations.
definitely one i will be getting on DVD.

Found it strange u weren't around d forums last night . Well thats pretty much better than me having 2 answer a bunch of newbs ?s

I find i get impatient sitting down more than an hr in 1 spot 2 watch movies these days . Heck we got cable with HBO/cinemax etc & i may watch a movie once a month - last movie i saw on cable was 'Shark Tale' , currently 'the incredibles' is running on cable & i haven't seen it as yet ....

man , that 'Gal S' guy gave me a workout ! - noticed how long that thread is ! ...well i think i just gave him da final advice so hopefully he's on d correct route now .....

yeah, he had me confused at one point! lol
it's like GW says, people get too hung up on numbers, instead of relying on people that have heard real-world applications.

well i started posting so i couldn't just leave him hanging in up there but u know alot of d stuff i know i learnt off bcae1 & the12volt.com & with d knowledge stuck in my brain from those 2 sites & countless others i feel very confident that i can truly build a really awesome SQL system - providing that some1 finance it - LOL

Hmmm - that gives me a sweet idea !
Y don't u start a thread 2morrow entitled
"What my 'no-holds-barred' dream system would be !" & we all could post what we'd all like 2 do if $ wasn't the main detractor .

Mention it was my idea of course ! hehe
Oh - its beddy bye time ,catch u 2morrow around 10am ........

Zapco C2K amps, and Alto Mobile Subs.

yeah, he should just get a better sub.
i don't understand how a sub can have a frequency response of only 38hz.
a sub will play any frequency that it is given.
how loud and effective it plays it is another story.

it means d lowest it can go is 38hz & not only .
d point i'm making showing u d link is that this guy's making a big deal outta stuff when its pretty much simple as matching stuff powerwise & choosing d best u can afford . Reading up reviews , again bcae1, the12volt.com & be brave/make a smart choice like how both of us r choosing ID for our next sub upgrade . Killing yaself over minute details & what brand 2 buy will drive ya nutz ....Upload but i guess thats whats forums r 4 ...

Alto Mobile Subs ??? - well 1st time i'm hearing that brand ...who told u about them ?
I think 4 me i'd like
2 - JL 13w7 with 2 JL 1000/1 amps in a ported box ov course .
4 - 6.5" either Rainbow,Dyn ,Morel or Focal
1 - Zapco 4 channel amp
HU - well according to GW that would be alpine F1 thing right ? with Xm/Sirius radio .
All fitted in any BMW/Benz station wagon or SUV for good interior acoustics . Upload

the head installer at Audionutz uses two of their 12's. they are called Falstaff's.
they are , imo, the best SQ sub on the market for car audio.
http://www.altomobile.com/html/falstaff.html
but they get very loud if needed:-O
