The bass isn't overpowering; they sound very natural and responsive. If you don't mind looks, then I would suggest the Grado SR60's in place of the Senn's.
Since you haven't set any parameters other than price, it makes it extremely difficult for anyone to help you find suitable headphones.
Sennheiser HD485 is also a sound choice for less than $150. VERY comfortable and well balanced sound. It's sounds great with cmoy portable amp and ipod as well as with my home gear.
