Is this the end for my Grado SR 80's?

It's been a 4 year love affair, their faces are still pristinely beautiful but the pipes appear to have given up the ghost.

Frustrating, the connections inside the speakers must be coming away. Intermittent shards of the heavenly sound still relay forth, yes, the speakers are still 100% fine.

No screws, I can't see any way to pry the dashed things open to have an idiotic attempt at reconnecting the loose fittings. Any advice? I live in Japan and no, I wouldn't trust the local telly-fixing chap as far as I could throw him.

What would be the general lifespan of these things? It's been 3 days now, 3 days of blackness and misery. My BORN DEAD ICONS lps are just sitting there, looking at me, bored and disgusted.
