Greetings brilliant A/V people.
My Canon EC-1 (?) died but I have old 8mm footage I would like to play and eventually burn to DVD. I checked out ebay but there are soooo many old camcorders to choose from. Does anyone have a preference?
Also, do they just make "players" for 8mm tape?
PLEASE advise. Video is not my area of expertise.
Thanks and enjoy the day, Sloane

If you just want to play back your old tapes, you should probably get a cheap 8mm camcorder on Ebay. If you want a camcorder for shooting in the future, try a Sony digital 8 camcorder. The TRV460 can play back 8mm and Hi8 tapes. You can transfer old video or new to your computer via firewire. You can check it out at Sonystyle.com, it goes for about $400. Hope this helps
