Hi,
I checked out many of the available discussions but did not find one that answered my question-
I have a Canon ZR700 Camcorder with a DV port. There was no DV cable however. After some research I think I know that in order to transfer tape to PC, I need to do it through Firewire port?
I have the following questions-
My laptop has no Firewire port. What do I need now - DV cable? any hardware that will take the input in the DV port on camcorder and USB at PC end (some kind of adaptor?)
Please let me know a list of things I need and where I could get them?

Thanks

If you have no firewire port you need to get one for your laptop. You do not want to use a DV to USB adaptor.

Thanks Berny
Could you please reccommend one and what is involved. I went over to Fry's and they asked me to get a "video capture "package. Apparently everything comes in one box..I didnt have time to look at all the description in the hundreds of packages available but found they are pretty pricy (> $100). Is that what I need? any reccomendations will be appreciated...
Thanks
