I have a JVC miniDV cam and lately I have been having focus issues. I record all of my son's baseball games and at times it will go out of focus when I zoom in or out. I pause it frequently between innings and such and sometimes I'll look at it the LCD screen and it is blurry. Any ideas? The outer lens is spotless, no dust.
How is the lighting during the games? You are probably experiencing "focus hunt", specially when the lighting is too intense or not enough. This happens to a lot of Auto Focus sensors when there is not a lot of contrast on the subject your a recording and if there is a slew of movement and you are focusing from wide angle to a close zoom.
Lighting has been good, all types of lighting. It just randomly happens for no reason. When I first got the camera it did not do this at all during the exact same type of recordings. Now, it does it quite often during 1 game.
