Which format is easiest to make DVD's from

I am looking to purchase a camcorder in the near future, and some of the major use will be to send video of our newest family member to family members who cannot travel to see the child due to illness.

What I am looking for is an easy means to take the video recorded and transfer it to my PC to burn DVD's to send to people.

I know there are numerous formats out there, Digital 8, DVD, miniDV, but what I don't know is how many hoops do you need to jump through to make a DVD from the various formats and the time needed to do that.

Any help/expertise you can offer would be appreciated.

The easiest is dvd, but it has its drawbacks. It takes a while for the camera to write to the dvd and you have to wait until it is done before you can change dvd's.
Mini DV is the most convenient, take the camera and plug it in to your PC. Assuming that you have the proper set-up (program, hook-ups, etc), of course, and it should be pretty painless.

Get a good DVD authoring program like ulead.
