Tapes, being a magnetic media, are subject to data loss have the disadvantage of a shorter life. DVD's, as I have heard, compress the data to mpeg2 and suffer from clarity loss. Is there any way to archive videos for a long time without loss in clarity say in original avi format on some media more reliable than a magnetic tape?) Thanks
