paramount Pictures and bummed actor Tom Cruise, of the Mission Impossible series claming the actor has been acting badly in view of the public, there was the incident where he was jumping up and down on a sofa on live TV and snobbing his finance in full view of the public. With box office gross for Mission Impossible 3 taking less far less than was anticipated Paramount decided to terminate Cruise's contract...

It's like the nation lottery for an actor or actresses to pick roles that will be favourable and profitable.

And yes if the script is shows signs of weakness, often some powerhouse actor will call for some changes, and sometimes that's the kiss of death. Look at (Alien 3) great Dolby film mix, lousy performances, but still watchable, even though you may feel like swinging from the chandelier!
