Sub box selection help

I have 2 12" Alpine SWS-1242D type S subwoofers that RMS 300 watts each. I have a JBL BP 600.1 amp running them 300 watts each at 1 ohm. I have them in just a regular box right now. I was wondering if they would sound better if I got a different box. Should get a ported, or bandpass, or slotted, or what? What is the difference between all of them?

Well, it depends on your car. Ported and slotted are quite a bit more efficient that sealed but, if you have a sedan or a car with a trunk then you might be better off with a sealed or bandpass enclosure. Wagons and suv's and such where there is no barrier (like a back seat) tend to sound noticably better with ported because of the smaller frequency range they can support. Sealed will give you more range (like maybe 30-150Hz or so) but the ported or even a bandpass will give you less frequency range but more bump for your buck. :-)
