KICKER KX1200.1 Over Kill????

Interested in getting this KICKER KX1200.1
im getting 2 10" Alpine DVC 2 ohm Subs would this amp be overkill if i were to wire them in 1 ohm?

I think that is way overkill. The KX600.1 would be plenty. Wire them down to 2ohms (which you can do with these subs). I wouldn't go with the KX1200.1 unless you used the Type X sub

Perfect what about the Memphis M-Class 16-MC500D???..

Are Memphis high quality amps?

Memphis is quality, but it's 100 less watts than the Kicker, but if you're going ported, the Memphis should be fine also.

Excellent, Ok so what would you get?
if i were to get the Kicker would a sealed box do the job?.. And same goes for the memphis a sealed box would do it but obviously with 100watts less it wouldnt pound as much??

Right. I would do the Kicker, get full potential out of the sub.

Well i couldnt find a Kicker amp 600.1 so i bid on the memphis and won :D $183.12 U.S. for a 500.1 it should do the job fairly well :D

Ok i got my memphis amp hooked it up and WOW what an amp!.. im impressed but my question is the manuel suggests a 8gauge wire should i get a 4 gauge or do what the manual suggests?

The kicker 1200 will really put out about 1300-1500 watts easy, they underrate their amps.

How long is the wire from the battery to the amp? You will only need an 8g unless it is unusually long, but if you plan to hook up another amp for components I would go ahead and get a 4g to save time and money.

Stugots, I would still use 4 gauge, it's not going to hurt anything...

Yea do 4 gauge. More is alwasy better. Also I would port those subs and they will really get loud.
