you;re amp would be robbed of power available to it, it would strain itself to get power and wouldn't be able to get it, your amp would probably burn itself because it couldn't get the power it really wants....its just not good take it that way
think of ur wireing as a straw the bigger the straw the more that can go through

if teh power wire was too small it woud still work tho...becasue right now i have 4 gauge my manual says i need 1/0...and the only way i can get sound to come out of the subs is if i turn the gain like all the way up and then they just stat going crazy
