HELP! wire conversion

Anonymous

I recently bought a 91 ford taurus and i took the factory tape player out, cliped the harness's off, then noticed there were more wires coming out of the car than the cd player(cd is brand new from store). We tried a few hook ups, the speakers are easy, but the power is whats messed up, the CD light will come on, it will take a cd and eject, but wont play , and the rest of the stereo wont turn on or show any life. the 4 wires i have left in the car say, (orng/blk,blu/grn = illumination) (yel/blk = fuse box) (yel/grn = fuse box + ant pwr) and the wires i have left on my CD player harness are ( yel = constant 12v) (red = 12v) (blu = remote)

Any ideas?

www.the12volt.com has the Metra vehicle guides for color codes.
you can look up your car there.
next time buy wiring harnesses instead of hacking up the car :-)

you go to any audio shop, or even Sears, and buy the wiring kit for a Ford matching your year and model.
then you buy the mounting kit, too
that lets you wire it all up and plug it right in.
it allso allows you to put the old radio back in later.
