Memphis Amps for sub and comps

Robert J Unregistered guest | Guys i'm pretty good friends with a guy at a local high end car audio shop. and he had a speical order come in for a guy and when it got there the guy didn't want it any more. so he is offering me the chance to buy the amp at $750. The amp is a Memphis Belle 16-mci300d. it is a 5ch amp and put 55rms x 4 at 4ohms and 1100rms at 1ohm. Now this amp retials for $1200 so i'm getting a good deal, but what i want to know is, is this amp any good, and is it going to give me good sound quailty like a alpine v12 amp or a JL. this is only the second amp i have found that will run at 1ohm stable which is what i need to power my 1 Brahma. The other amp would be a JL. I think mmats make a 1ohm stable amp but i'm not real impressed with them. |

Silver Member Username: JessejamesNB, PA USA Post Number: 104 Registered: Aug-04 | a guy tryied to sell me a stolen memphis amp today... i was debating buying it.. .cause it 'was' a nice amp... but upon stealing it, there were scratches, all of the mounts were broken and useless, while the cover plate for the bottom was missing screws and falling off... what a piece of crap, but he only wanted $80 for it, but i decided not too.. |

Robert J Unregistered guest | yeah i'm sure, i know there on ebay for a little less. but he is local and i don't have a way of buying anything off of ebay. plus i now if something goes wrong with the item he will make it right. So basicly there is alot of surcurity in dealing with this guy. But thank you for taking the time to point that out. |

I had a Memphis mono block amp a while back and it ran nice and cool. Now I have a 4 channel Hifonics at 100x4 RMS and it does not run hot, but also I have a mono Hifonics and it is good but runs VERY hot. I just moved to Texas and the weather here does not help matters. Am thinking of selling both amps and getting a Belle, which would give me almost the same power but hopefully will not run as hot, plus would save some space. Any thoughts on this? |
