I got two alpine type-r's i think ive blown them but im not an expert. they still work at lower volumes but they sound sort of papery. and when i raise the volume my amp goes into protect-mode(audiobahn) are they blown or what?

Im guessing you have blown subwoofers but test them with am ohm meter.

yeah, they sound like they might be blown... take em out of the box and smell it, it will probably smell burnt. if you have a multimeter, use it

might have fried your tinsel leads...i did that on an L5, it'll still hit VERY softly but sounds very....paperish...yea great word! I dont know where you got em but i'm sure if you contact Alpine they'd be happy to fix it for you, or if you have a really high end audio store around they could probably fix it.
