Mono amp?

 

Fill me in on the benifits and the functions of a mono amp?

i would say that mono amps give out more pure power to your subs, better than bridging a 2 channel amp. and they are only used to power subs. my bro n law has a mono amp that has lower wattage than my 2 channel and it sounds way more better.
 

mono amplifiers are generally designed only for subwoofers, and are usually class-D amps (thus they would sound like a$$ if used for anything but subs) they usually have a built in low-pass filter, and bass boost option.
most mono class-D amplifiers are 2 Ohm stable. Some, like the JBL BPxxx.1 line are 1 Ohm stable, but produce the same power at 1 and 2 Ohms.
Many mono amps offer two sets of speaker terminals as well, for easy wiring of two 4 Ohm subwoofers in parallel to the amp, giving each sub it's own pair of terminals.
