I have a 98 528i bmw:

ok.. i've been looking for the right subs for the right price. I'm seriously considering buying two kappa perfects vq 10 or 12" My question is.. how good will these sound in a ported box?

How come they're both rated to have the same peak power handling? 1600 watts?

recommended power range 75-400 watts RMS
peak power handling 1,600 watts
frequency response 23-400 Hz
sensitivity 89 dB
top mount depth 7"
sealed box volume 0.4-1.25 cu. ft.
ported box volume 1.75-3.00 cu. ft.

10"
Magnesium Metal Matrix (M3D) cone
large-roll butyl-rubber surround
Variable Q
massive cast-aluminum basket
3" voice coil
suitable for free-air use (handles up to 200 watts in free-air mode)
recommended power range 75-400 watts RMS
peak power handling 1,600 watts
frequency response 25-400 Hz
sensitivity 87 dB
top mount depth 6-1/2"
sealed box volume 0.3-1.0 cu. ft.
ported box volume 1.25-2.50 cu. ft.

What is the real difference? besides the obvious.. Will they thump the same?

They're going for about 300 shipped or probably like 330 at the local shop.. Are there any other subs that I should look for in this price range? (sets of two)
