I just purchased a POLK C300.2 (Carbon Series) today from Circuit City for a Killer $129.00 closeout. Specs are:
550w x1(4ohm)RMS
220w x2(2ohm)RMS
150w x2(4ohm)RMS

I need some help figureing out what to do for subs. I want something with a good balnace of SQ and "bump" and I don't want to spend more than say $250 (box not included). I have a 2001 Ford Escort Sedan.
Should I go with 1 4ohm 12? 2 8ohm 12's ? Is a 220w 2ohm load x 2 channels enough power to push 2 DVC subs? Any help would be great.

I hate to break it to you but that amp is trash. You couldn't pay me $130 to put it in my car. But if you decide you like it that is your buisness. As for subs you could try something like two Cerwin Vega Vmaxs, or IDQs. You could also get one better sub like an IDMAX and run it at bridged. If you do get one sub and run it bridged be sure it is dual 2 ohm.

I'm open to any comments. You say the AMP is trash..fine. I'm not looking to be noticed going down the street I just want some bass. Tell me a better AMP I could get for around $200 to push a 12 or 2 or whatever. Thanks for the info on the subs though.

Im guessing you are gonna go sealed. Take a look at www.splbassx.com/forums. I would take a look at dayton quatro 12 inch subs. They are 250 rms and would work with that amp perfect. They will make that amp run at 2 ohm stereo and give you 220 watts per sub which would give you a nice bump. If you get on that site I told you about pm gank and he should be able to get you a very good deal on those dayton subs. He saved me about 15.00 bucks compared to the price I would have had to pay. go to www.partsexpress.com and search for the dayton quatro 12 and that will give you all the info you need. then go to www.splbassx.com/forums for reviews and such on the sub. Those subs will proably run you under 175.00-200.00 shipped for both of them. Good luck.

After looking at that sub I'm a little confused, Partly because I'm an FNG. The Dayton Quatro 12 is a 4ohm sub....how can I run 220w 2ohm stereo to each sub? What about the running 2 8ohm 12's off the 550w 4ohm load? I've seen a wiring diagram where you can do that, Or is that getting more expensive or what would be be the disadvantages of doing that?
