ok, here's the deal I have a stock head unit with rca converter. at like 3/4 volume I still get clipping with gain turned all the way down. at just over 1/2 volume I can barely have the gain 1/4 of the way up. is this a problem with my head unit, the rca converter, amp, alt, blahblah, etc. it's driving me nuts because with the gain that low I don't get much punch from my sub. amp is earthquake ph500.1 running in mono with a 4ohm load 500watts rms. owners manual rates current draw at 24amps. any help reguarding this would be greatly appreciated. also I my factory system has inline amp, should I move my preamp converter connections to before the amp because the installer put it after it. just a thought, thanks.
that amp will only produce bout 240watts of "clean" power...if that!
one other thing that may have to do w/ it is that you are using your stock HU...you wont get any where near the SQ that you would w/ a good 3rd party HU.
