Stereo Cuts out when I turn the volume up

I currently have a 2000 Dodge Durango which I have owned for a little over 3 years now. I replaced the factory stereo with a new Boss single Din CD player a little over a year ago because the display on the factory unit went out. The Boss worked fine until recently. Now, sometimes when I turn the volume up it will cut out...off and on over and over...until I turn the volume down. It seemed to coincide with getting the battery changed this past Fall/Winter. I recently reinstalled the old factory unit to see if the issue might be the stereo or the harness kit but it is doing the same exact thing with the factory unit as well now. I am hoping that someone on here might be able to help me out with this. Here are some answers to a few questions I know will help.

-same factory speakers as before issue started (only 3 of 4)
-used harness kit to connect the new stereo
-no amp
-no subs
-checked battery cables (2 positive wires hooked through a new battery connector)
-Boss is an 80Wx4 BV7330 DVD/MP3/CD AM/FM Receiver

Owning a DMM is the first step. Read the input voltage to the HU, see what happens when the device starts to fail.

Your HU should have no issues BUT why did you buy BOSS for...smh.
