Hi freind- actually the head unit should be fairly snug. One thing that might work is pulling it back out, and there should be a metal box that the unit slides into with a bunch of odd cuts in it. Those strange cuts in the metal are for your problem, first slide the head unit out of the metal box, next bend those metal slits upward to make a correct fit in your mount kit, last slide your head unit into metal box.
