Hi new here,
having some problems setting up my sound system.
1st question is ive got 2 amps which i want play off the one headunit. is it possible to have 2 remote turn on wires joining the one wire from the head unit, is there a kind of 1 in 2 out adapters?
2nd question is i think i need a fused distribution block to run the 2 amps off the battery. can the two cables that go into the block from the amps be the cables that came with the amps and from the other side to the battery does the power cable need to be bigger size? what amp fuses will i need?
thanks

Welcome George:

1) the remote turn-on from the head unit can be connected to both amplifiers.

2) if you already have cables for each amp you can run each cable separately, directly from the battery and you don't have to buy anything else, if you want to run a thick cable to a distribution block from the battery, after the fuses you can run the cable you already have from the distribution block to the amps. I need the model of the amps to suggest the thickness of the thick cable, you will have also to fuse this cable near the battery.

Hi thanks.
amps are - JBL GTO75.2 and JBL CS 60.4 channel

Thanks. is there anything bad with just having two wires to the battery or is it better to use a distribution block?
also the rca cables ive bought are quite thin cables compared to rca cables you see for sale for amps which look quite thick cabled. il put up a link if you want to see the ones i bought.
and sorry this properly sounds stupid but how the you connect the 2 remote turn on cables to the head unit? thanks again

Ok Gerorge estimated current draw for those two amps is 45A so you can use 6AWG wire or 4AWG wire for a single line from the battery to a distribution block, you should have a 60A fuse with it's inline fuse holder near the battery.

If you have already 2 wires you can run directly those wires from the battery as long as both have their own fuses and those fuses and both are placed near the battery. Obviously that's not as neat but electrically there's no difference.

Regarding the RCAs maybe are not the best but if you test them and they work then they work, if you want to get better stuff no problem, you may get a bit better sounding system and a bit less noise.

On the remote cable you can wire the remote from the deck to one amplifier and from there continue on to the other amplifier.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

thanks for that.
silly question again sorry, will 8 awg do? or is that not big enough. because theres a good deal on a wiring kit for 8 awg - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130603501816?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1 423.l2649#ht_2628wt_1230

also in this photo - http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/bb374/georgeka/photo5.jpg the wire on the left of the photo, blue wire which looks like it has a fuse. it is connected to the same cable as the aerial. is this the remote turn on wire or is the remote turnn on wire the cable called 'P.ANT'
thanks

8AWG is on the limit, I am not saying that it can't do but I would go for 6AWG specially if the cable is not top quality.

Yes a 60A fuse would be probably safer.

can i use a 60amp fuse on a 4 guage power wire?
can i the 4 gauge going into a fused distribution box with 2 60 amp fuses and the power wires coming from there are a 4 gauge and what i think is a 6 gauge wire (its says 10mm2 on it) can i have them 2 wires coming out the distribution box connecting to the 2 amps. the reason i am wanting to have the both wires coming out a distribution box is because the new power wire i bought has a 80a fus and the fuse and fuse holder are differnent than the 60a fuse power wire i have so il just buy the box

The fuses on the distribution block should be rated as recommended in each of the amplifier manuals likely 20-30A the lines from the disribution block should not to be more than 8AWG (or maybe won't fit the amp) take a look at some suggestions:

Distribution block:

Fuses for the distribution block:

Inline fuseolder for near the battery:

See what you are missing from the above and buy only what you need.
