which would be the best bang for your buck to power a alpline shallow mount type r 12" @ single 4 ohm 600w rms 1200w peak? I have it on a sony xplod 1000w max which is 400w rms @ 4 ohm bridged. I'm thinking of getting rid of the type r for 2 4 ohm kicker cvt 12's which take 400w rms each so i would need a 800w rms @ 2 ohm amp. Is kenwood, hifonics, crunch, alpine, and phoenix gold amps at rated?? I know kicker and punch are under rated.

This will only deliver the 800W you need:

Two of these (the 2 ohm version wired in parallel):

Can't say that I like any of those shallow subs but I would like to know what was wrong with the Alpine, not loud? not low?, do you know the model of the sub? the box is sealed?, ported? size? all can have an effect on sound.

Dont have a choice with a 04 duramax crew cab. Its pretty good for the truck. Box is sealed. Its the alpine type r thin 12" retails for $289 each on sonixelectronics.com i was just wondering if i would get double the bass with an extra 12"

Since enclosure is important let me take a sec to show you this:

I guess the Alpine is an excellent sub that goes reasonably low since you have a 4 ohm if you add a second you will need 2 ohm amplification:

This is not a CEA-2006 certified amp so it maybe will give 1000-1100W RMS at 2 ohm, enough to drive those subs well.

2 subs are double power so a 1200W system or 3dB louder.
