Post it up!
I suck with networking/hardware, but love me some coding/programming.
Still cool to see a nice rack..

there are two servers, one is a amd dual core @ 3GH with 4GB of DDR2 800 a pc power & cooling 1000 watt power supply, an asus nvidia 260 GTX and an older gigabyte motherboard, running server 2008r2. the other one just runs to be used as a backup server for my nightly system image.

i have enough system resources and big enough pipes for my needs.

its an old old case, i want the 800D but need the money for that first.

also the 2600K will do 5.2GH on air, maybe not with stock cooling but on air non the less but even the Intel rep says the 1366 cpu's are still top of the line.

I'm currently going to school for computer hardware. Would always love to learn more about networking as I see networking getting much much bigger in the near future with the cloud and all.

Just about to build me a rig also with taxes, really can't wait. Also always wanted to learn more about servers, but what's really the point in having one in home? Or are you just doing it more to fiddle around with and learn.

i run active directory, domain controller, WSUS, exchange, backup, FTP, and a few other things out of my house and i got the rack for free, it should be a 41U rack. Wen or Thurs i should have everything that i need to start on populating the rack.

they also host ~5TB of media and other goodies for me.

"I really don't know anything about servers Haha.

Just took up a Server class, hopfully it teaches me a little something." from the server classes i have taken they just teach you the OS and almost nothing about hardware.

"And 5TB's of p0rn?

Damn." no ~177GB

"why you acting like you know anything about computers and networking Charles... lol" boy don't make me smack you. lol

"that's some sweet stuff you have going there. wish i had a tower like yours. i'm interested in seeing this server construction."

my tower is ~1.5 years old now, sooner or later i will demote this hardware to my server rack and make a new one when something worth buying comes out. if you or anyone else has any questions don't be afraid to ask.

dude i recomend a asus sabertooth wich in microcenter it says 199 but actually is for 169 the components are so much better their military tested.. they come with certificate..

and an intel i7 950 cost 250 at microcenter too..

i had that and is a pretty good deal if you dont want to pay much more money on the sandy bridge 2600k wich as far right now you will never need it.. my rig wont be outdated in a couple of years.. i mean any game right now or program or even windows 7 can use my cpu full potention so all my speed is kinda worthless

oh and im at 3.7ghz with a cheap 29 dollar cpu cooler ;)

even that is worthless im not going to post benchmark since you will not know anything but i bet you know the microsoft windows experience index rating??

oh i have a evga gtx 460 gtx i got it because its cheap and it can play any game right now at around 60 fps at my resolution maxxed out so all the expensive cards are worthless in my opinion if you dont use extreme graphics..

i got cpu at 7.6 out of 7.9

memory 7.9 out of 7.9

graphics 7.5 out of 7.9

gaming graphics 7.5 out of 7.9

heres are pictures of my build

oh to have 7.9 on cpu it takes a 1000 dollar processor ( intel extreme processor 6 core) and over clocked to 4.2 ghz or more..

well probaby around 7.8 but is very close..
