alright thanks for the websites, i do have a system right now but its nothing like some of the peoples on here. its just 2 12" infinty references with a infinity amp. you gotta start somewhere, what size wire should i use for the amp?

For 1000 watts I would just do the big 3, and install a good battery up front. Unless your alt is failing you shouldn't need to upgrade unless you added more power.

1/0 to the back then you can eather split off in to 4ga if you have 2 lower powered amps or if the amp takes 1/0 then theres distro blocks that have both 1/0 and 4ga outputs and 1/0ga in.

also do your big 3 in OFC 1/0ga if the alt u get does more then 250 amps you will need OFC 1/0 ga if its less then 250 amps you can swing CCA 1/0 wire as long as it supports that amount of current.

x2 on troy as well.

my old jeeps alt could not hold voltage to save its life. but if you are staying above 12.8-13v just get a nice battery for anything under ~1200 watts.

get a DMM (digital multi meter / volt meter) and hook it to your battery and bump the hardest hitting song you have and see how low your voltage sags.

Troy nailed it.

Just install the amp w/ quality 4ga cable and upgrade your big-3.
As long as your alt is in good shape and you have a good batt up front, you should be fine.

how much would the big 3 upgrade cost like a rough estimate?

would depend on the wire you use and how long the runs are. take some string and measure from alt + to battery + in safe run (away from heat and fans, use zip ties.) battery - to chassy - and motor ground to chassy. you order wire by the foot or in spools.

as far as choices go for wire to use, knukonceptz is my personal fav, theres also shok, kicker hyper flex, some people like stinger. theres more then that thats just what i can think of right now.

The big 3 doesn't cost much, you're just replacing the factory wiring with larger gauge. If you got a spool of 1/0 gauge you would have plenty to do the upgrade and for running power to the rear and for a good ground for your amps. You would need ring terminals for the wire as well. Vertexaudio.com sells shok industries, they're a good choice for wire.

should sound good until you sit in a 150+ car and get the SPL bug. if you are happy with some decent bump you should be rather happy.

i would go ported if you have the room, if you want to build the box your self eather use the RE box calc or talk to bassman3 for a design. if you what it built for you he also does that. don't use prefab.

1 15 could sound very good but if you port it its all about making it sound the way you want it to. I think with a huge ported box those 12s could get pretty loud for you. Its all about your box
Big.3 is not expensive at all it should take no more than 15 feet of wire and just a llittle time
And run a decent size battery and your fine. You shouldn't need more than a 200 dollar battery to keep your voltage up and not have any problems

my FI Q is 1k rms and i put 1600+rms on it, does fine, the SSD should take ~1100-1200 just fine. just depends on how u set it up.

Yea it is pretty big,but the good thing is i just use the car to drive to work so i really dont need any space. The trunk in your buick would be much much bigger too.

Also, depending on what kind of music you listen to you might want to tune it a little lower than 35hz. Maybe around 30/32hz.

If your using that hifonics amp your going to need a dual 2. Wire it parallel to get 1ohm

a single dual 2 would suit for a 1 ohm stable amp
