I have a situation thats got me stumped. I would like some advise on what I should/could do. I have 4 12" Power acoustik Fubar sub(DVC 4 ohms)

http://www.justcardvdplayers.com/poweracoustik12fubarseriesdvcsubwoofers-1800w.a spx

and 2 Alpine V-Power MRP-M500 amps.

http://www.abt.com/product/33267/Alpine-MRPM500.html

I can cant figure out how to make this set up work. I've tried to put 2 subs on each amp at 1 ohm but they keep cutting off. I then discovered that my amps are not 1 ohm stable. I'm thinking my only options are to either settle for running them 4 ohms and starve my subs or get another amp.

Then if I get another amp how would I be able to get the full potential from it??? B/C I can run all 4 of them 1ohm b/c they are 4 ohm speakers. I'm lost and frustrated and most importanly soundless!!! HELP!!!

Yea,your best bet here is to buy a different amp.
Now your not going to be able to wire all 4 to a 1ohm load though.
http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp?Q=4&I=42

So these subs are 800wrms. To properly power them you would need an amp that does like 3000+wrms @ either .5 or 2ohms. Then you would need to upgrade your electrical an so fourth so... Id say maybe just run 2 of them. Sell the other two to help pay for the amp your going to need.

Sell the two Alpine amplifiers and buy a single class D sub amp that's half-ohm stable, and run all 4 subs in parallel, coils in parallel, or wire the coils in series, and subs in parallel for a 2 ohm load and use a 2 ohm stable amplifier instead.

There is no ideal solution with the setup you have now, aside from just running one sub per amp and leaving it at that.

Thanks for your response.

would it be wasteful to buy two 1000+watt mono 1ohm stable amps and run 2 subs 1ohm to each amp? Would I still need to upgrade my electrical?

@ GlassWolf

Any suggestions on some .5ohm stable amps, I havent had much luck searching? Also when you say 2ohm stable does that qualify any amp that can be ran in 2ohms?

two 1Kw amps are fine, yes you'll need to upgrade the alternator most likely.

Thanks for your responses guys. Over the weekend I sold all my equipment and went with two 15" Kicker L7's and a audiopipe 1500d ran in 1 ohm.

I'm thinking these subs need something a bit more powerful. your thoughts?

I'd have strongly urged against the square subs, but that's me.
They're good with 750-1200 watts RMS each

What coil config are the L7s? Dual 4 ohm I'm assuming?

Bad decision on the keeker crap. They are built very poorly and have an excessive failure rate in addition to having no sound quality.

the square cone leads to unequal forces being applied to the cone at high excursion, which leads to cone flex distortion.
They are all (Kicker Solo series subs, L5, L7, X) prone to tinsel lead slap and separation as well as surround separation.
the cone design limits excursion giving you more surface area, but less throw.
they are prone to coil damage usually due to user misuse.

The L7s wiill be louder than the CVR subs. The CVR subs will have better sound quality. it's your call. If you're happy with the L7s, that's all that matters.
