Friday, July 09, 2010 - 00:49 GMT Ok guys, I am a bit confused ! lets say I have a box volume of Vb, is the port Volume (Vp) already in the box volume (Vb)? or would it have to be added on? Thanks.

Friday, July 09, 2010 - 01:03 GMT No. Vb is net volume, less port volume. So, if you have a 1.5cuft Vb (net) box and a Vp (port volume) of 0.5cuft...the total gross volume internal is 2cuft.

Saturday, July 10, 2010 - 05:18 GMT You don't have to use that much port area for most subs. In many low to mid power settings, 10-14sq per cu is fine. The total amount of port are you will need will be dependent on the subs. 14-16sq per cubic foot works well w/ higher power or a sub that behaves in such a way that is requires that much. In many cases, a single 4" flared port is fine w/ a 2cuft box and 1-12" sub. Shopvac, What sub are you using?
