Looking for a really cheap head unit but sound quality has to be on the nicer side, Pioneer has the cheapest but is that too cheap? Thank you for your comments.

Pioneer, definitely.

The low-end Alpines are too cheap in my opinion. Pioneer still puts some good features into their low-end units.

Pioneer has better features almost always, their tuner is great, but I don't know if a $60-$70 Pioneer can match the sound quality of a $110-120 Alpine regardless of features or build quality. Maybe someone had the chance to hear them both.

Both low end have 2V. If you install well + never hot plug RCAs no picofuse issues ever with the Pioneers, not a concern. Anyhow I guess that only those who heard them both can tell about SQ. Anyone? Thanks!

Save your money, and buy something that is worth what you pay.
Another $50 in the HU market will get you a LOT.
