Box Building

I made a box for a jlw6 a while back but i just followed the directions off the jl sit. First off i need to know if i can fit the 15 hdc3's or if i will have to go with the 12's. My measurement show that i have about 9 cubic feet to work with. I tried making a couple sample boxes on reaudio.com but it seems i might not have enough volume once the port and driver are added in. I can squeeze a little more out if i have to. I would like to keep my trim in though. Another dilemma I'm running into is i cant make up my mind which way i want the subs to be facing along with the port. let me know what you guys think and if you have any articles or so forth for beginner spl box builder's i would love to read them.
