I'm installing a Pioneer avh-p4200DVD in my 01 tahoe. I wont have time to do the wiring for some time unless I do it tonight. I have no intentions of running a backup camera, ever. Do I have to hook up the reverse light wire for normal operation? Been googling for a while and I know there are some people on here who install a lot more than I do. Almost everything I do is basic cd player- no monitor involved.

Any help appreciated, otherwise I'll just ignore it until I can check things work tomorrow.

i would just hook it up to a 12V switch just in case that way you can all ways cut it on if needed.

Too lazy- plus I've read things online about it needing to see + or -, and the wrong one meaning I'm constantly in reverse- so black screen. Not sure though because many reviews write the wiring portion as vaguely as possible.

If you are not using the backup cam, just cap that wire. It is not needed.
