The whole idea of a forum is so ppl can read similar threads and learn from them.

yeah i know but what if there is a problem and someone is on aim..its jus a personal problem--thats all..people will still post to get other opinions-jus to have people on aim or yahoo or whatever is jus a step closer

Yeah, but how many people really search the forum before asking questions? :P

And by having Y!M screen names etc, it's easy to ask a basic question without cluttering up the forum with stuff that makes us all groan (will this amp power this sub???? etc.).

what about if one individual is helping and they are on aim or yahoo and they are not in forums and u are stuck with one little problem then what--make a new thread and sit for hours waiting for a response?

No offense but the reason I use forums and generally don't leave a lot of personal contact info is because when I have in the past, I get flooded with e-mail and IMs. This way I can budget my time as I desire.
