Heyooo!

I've not started a thread in sometime now, just trolling over the forum every now and then! THis is totally the wrong section but Im looking for some input sooner rather than later.

I need a 4 channel amp and would like 100+rms @4
I was looking at the SoundStream Ref 4.920 and then I saw the TRX4.880.....are these amps any good? Any suggestions?

I like the price on the 880 as it is an older amp but I don't want to buy an over rated junker.

Thats too much power Glass, I would hate to fry my 3-way set
*assuming $100 for 100rms a channel is a crappy amp*

Im looking for under $600cdn shipped and all that jazz.

I also meant to link this:

Soundstream is nowhere near what they used to be, look elsewhere. In fact they pretty much suck.

Someone mentioned Orion but I've only seen one.

Sundown only has the 100x4, I would, personally like a little more headroom.

The Arc SE4200 looks nice....have to find out the price out..

I looked at DD as well as the SS4a is nice and so is the DDC5b, DD might be the way to go, DDC5b any good?

Kicker's amps are nice.

what exactly do you want here? you ask for a 100W x 4 amp, and shoot one down because it's too much power, and another for not enough head room? I don't get you.

Too much power... no such thing, it's called headroom.

that's what I was thinking too, which is why I run an amp that's rated at a horribly conservative 250Wx2@4ohms for a set of 200WRMS 3-ways, but I just don't understand what he really wants. I named two amps that are both 100x4@4, one was too big, the other too small?

I was saying I want 100x4 but the amp you linked to was $100, I assume it to be a piece of trash at that price when Im looking to spend $600. Walmart sells $100 amps....

I want 100x4 or more but I really want to "or more" part.

I linked to two amps that do 130+rms @ 4 but if there was some super amazing amp that did 100x4 I would settle on it but I want the extra head room.

I think i would choose a JL amp over kicker and im sure that is within your budget. The Zapco and mac above would be amazing though.

Honestly depending on your head unit i would look into an older precision power art series amp as glass mentioned above. Maybe the a404 or the a400. I was using a couple of those last year and they truly are amazing units. However they have no built in crossover. They can be found on ebay for around 250 bucks in good shape.

yah I was going to mention the lack of crossover on teh Art and AM series amps. I did like how PPI and Orion used the same DIN plug for the proprietary gear, though. That made it easy to mix and match Orion and PPI stuff when the guys at PPI first split off from Orion.

I really like the old Orion stuff also. They seem a little harder to find but very good stuff. I would say the ppi art series are my all time favorite amps though.

Yeah it's sweet looking but god awful ugly, lol.

I may see if I can grab a Kicker ZX850.4 and see if my friend in the US wants to have an item delivered to forward it to me.....

I hate the increase in costs from the US to Canada. Ordered a watch the same way from US and had her ship it to me and it cost me $6 shipping from California to Canada and once all was said and done I saved about $120 from buying the same watch in stores or from the CDN website......WHY
