Well did not do too good today after getting metered at the local car show. Very disappointed with my score. I need to add more port area to the next box I build or have built. I'll still won my class by 6 dB, but I am not happy with the score. 151.0 db tl outlaw.

151 is decent. What would that translate in a legal metering?
Out law is what? when a door or window is open? Mic in the port?
On the head rest?

no hunter, I've never tried anything in this vehicle other than subs up port back. I'm sure that this setup can be a lot louder with more poert area.. i changed my design at the last minute when I designed the box wanting to maintain some musicallity. I'll likely build a f@rt box and swap em out for competition, or let someone like canaan design and build a box with aeroprts and plug one of em for daily. When the money can be freed up, i'll be looking to double up on power(adding a 2nd 5750) for competition and running one for daily. i changed very little for the competition (as far as settings), so doing 150's+ daily is more than enough for me. I'm not pushing the Heavyweights near hard enough with a single 5750 as you well know. The score really isnt that bad, I just expected a little better. Like I said earlier, i won my class by 5.5 db (someone improved their score from yesterday). Ide almost bet Canaan could probably gain -2-3 db with a one of his designs,. I know just enough about box building to get me into trouble.

Unless you are willing to go ahead and wall that Jeep, I would for get running 2 -18's.

I bet you would be louder w/ 1 18" than you are w/ 2 now.

This may sound goofy but build a tiny tiny 4 12" box, subs up, ports back in that vehicle, box pushed towards the front drivers side against the back seat.
If you've ever seen thee old style 4 12" set ups people used to do for Rex's you'll have a really good start ;)

I did a 156 in a Cherokee with about 7k rms with that type of sub set up. (outlaw)

i'm running 2 15" HW V.2's in my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4. 260 amp DC Power Alt. 6 c+d tech. batts 100^2 ft. Fatmat, few runs of 0ga. power wire.
Box is 7.5^3 ft after displacements with 80^2 in port, tuned to 40hz. on paper. Peaked @ ~47-48hz.

I have since changed aroung the backseat area.. Added 1 rear seat and made the amp rack behind passenger seat built over battery bank.

seems to me like it should be much louder, i did 145 sealed on the dash with 2 12" alphas tuned to 37hz on music with ~3500 rms in a trunk car....no clue what that correlates to on outlaw but i would imagine about a db just from opening the door and possibly another db with a tone so call it a 147. my ports were huge though 48" area per sub. I would say go for a bigger port. do like 20 " per cube and see how it does. musically the large ports killed the upper response though, at least in my application but the lows were brutal.

i noticed that your voltage is dropping to right about 12 volts in the vid. seems like with a 260 amp alt and 6 batts and only 6krms that you shouldn't drop that low. maybe you have a bas connection somewhere, probably not but its something to check for.

did you leave the kid in the box when you put the subs in?
does it cause any port whistle?
how much did your suspension sag when you forklifted that box into the back?

Maybe try little more port area and subs forward port back. I think that is the design that got very loud. Have to talk to AMI about that, he built it.

Shoot me an email Mark, I will see whats up.

That was with 3 batts (in the vid). Currently unless I'm idling for a long time with it at full tilt it wont go below 14V. even then it only gets to ~13.6v at the least..

Glasswolf-If he had his way, he would still be in there..
As for the weight, well the batts outweigh the box/subs by a good margin... But it did take 2 people to lift it and it was a struggle.. As for the suspension sag, With the Cherokee being a 4X4, you cant see or notice any sag..
Fuel milage ~13 mpg. with system
fuel milage ~15 mpg w/o system
