Ok.. Purchased a cd/ radio from good old ebay.. to replace the tape player in the wifes grot box..

Was told it came with a code.. and indeed it did.. apparently just not the one for this stereo as it doesnt work. When you enter the code it just beeps and the word code comes back up on the display... "code" then stays there for about a minute before reverting back to 0000 and allowing you to try again.

Details on the stereo are

Renault Stereo

22DC279/622
FD0202240307959
TON788
RN279F20307959
8200002607TN788
8200002607

Not sure what Renault it came out of as it came from ebay.. but its going into a megane Scenic.
Hoping you can help as the wife is giving me more earache from now not having a working stereo than when she only had a tape player and no tapes...lol...

Thanks

Jonshrub your code is 2257 how to enter is below

IF YOU DONT HAVE KEY THEN PUSH THUMBWHEEL IN AND SOME HAVE {A} KEY

Turn on the radio and the display will show 'CODE'
Use the steering controls for code entry.
Press the [ ] button then rotate the thumb wheel for the correct first digit
Press the [ ] button then rotate the thumb wheel for the correct second digit
Press the [ ] button then rotate the thumb wheel for the correct third digit
Press the [ ] button then rotate the thumb wheel for the correct fourth digit
If the correct code is now shown on screen,
press and hold the [ ] button for up to 10 seconds to store the code

FOR NO STEERING CONTROL
press the first preset button for the 1st digit,
second button for the 2nd digit
third button for 3rd digit
forth button for 4th digit
then press buttons 6 OR 5 to store. for 10 seconds

note the radio does not lockout after a wrong code entry it only doubles the time to wait before
the next retry...if a wrong code is entered it will display error then after the delay should display "0000")

return the radio to the seller, and get a refund. it's probably stolen.
