What box for these subs?

Right now im going with an 1.75 cu ft/sub sealed box made out of particleboard. Should I get a smaller sealed? MDF? Ported? Bandpass? I just have NO IDEA. I listend to my friends ported, and it's LOUD, but it's not what im going for really. Each hit is just a bit too long or dragged out or something. Just tell me what to get! Please
