both make great amps, but sh!t subs. theres a bunch of companys that are more underground you probably haven't heard of that make good subs. to name a few;

fi
audioque
digital designs (dd)
incriminator audio
resonant engineering (re)
elemental designs
american bass
sundown
JL (overpriced)

many more... do some research, see what you like, come back :-)

I've got a Kicker Cvr 12". I never got it sounding like I thought it was supposed to. I've also had P1 15s. Not very good sq at lows but they got somewhat loud. (for P1s)

both are not the choice of sq fanatics

btw - u cant expect a rated 200 & 400wrms sub to "kick hard"

look at JL , elemental designs , image dynamics ...

I'd agree to go a different direction for SQL. A well built enclosure is also going to be key, as well as how much power you're feeding this sub. You may look into RE, Fi Q, A w6 or w7 would be a great choice if you wanted to spend the cash.

I would go with a Fi Q just based on the price difference from JL

but i think we're getting a bit off topic--

Richard- What is your budget? We can moste likely find a better product for you for your price range.
Also what vehicle?
Do you have an amp already or are you going to purchase an amp based on your sub choice?

well I have a 1000 watt amp picked out my car is a 05 Ford Focus and Im planing on spending $50-$80 .. sry I kinda have a low budget for this. The sound quality doesn't have to be the best, but still good, its just that I don't want sloppy bass. I still want it to shake and be accurate. Sry I don't know a hole lot about this stuff right now.

the alpine is better, but your budget and your goal don't really match up cuz its hard to get decent amount of SQ for cheap, but we'll try to make it work for you

with that budget, i'd try to get maybe a CVR 10 dual 2 http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_8360_Kicker+07CVR102.html
thats $80 then get an amp that can do 400watts @ 1 ohm

I thought you guys said kicker wasn't any good? Thats why I figured the alpine might sound better. I guess I didn't know that they were that expensive .. from what I have heard though the alpine swr-1022D has decent sq and hits hard.

kicker isn't great, but that is within your budget
the alpine type r is $105
the CVR is $80

and with your budget of $50-80 i figured the CVR would be better.
pretty much as long as you're not paying MSRP for Kicker, its not THAT bad, but still by no means great

between the two i would go with the Alpine Type R, but personally i would step up to the 12 cuz its only $25 more and you could put it in a sealed box so you could retain SQ while gaining some loudness. And RMS power doesn't change between the two

I like my kicker cvr 12's but i want a bigger system. Look into Fi audio or RD audio if you want a good subwoofer.
