I just ordered a J.L. AUDIO 12W3V2-D6 12" DUAL 6 OHM off of ebay, and I'm not sure what size amp I would need to get for this sub. The specs say that the amp has a rated 300 RMS.

that is a different voice coil setup. you would most likely run that at 3 ohms

Look into:

Alpine PDX-1.600
Phoenix Gold Zenon X600.1
JL 500/1

all of these amps are nice but can be expensive because they do about the same amount of power into 1, 2, 3, and 4 ohm loads.

the AQ1200 is tough to beat for the price. That would give you plenty of power at 3 ohms too

Since my sub is a 6 ohm, will it matter if i get an amp that puts out less ohms? Sorry I am kinda new to this, less ohms is better right?

Okay.. im going to try to explain this ina simple way. You match up ohms.. your sub is 6 ohms you say, you can wire the subwoofer to the amp a certant way to "turn" the subwoofer into a different ohm. So you can wire the subwoofer to the amp so that the subwoofer will "turn" into 3ohms instead of 6.

Buy this amp

and wire it like this
