i built a ported box for my 12 inch pioneer sub it sounded good it was 2.83 cubic ft and tuned to 22 hz which it way to big for the sub.So then built another using the reccomended specs it is 1.65 and tuned to 40 which pioneer said to build it like that. But know i cant pick the lows that i could with the big box. how do i get the lows back and what is a good hz to tune for spl

well if your at 40hz, your tuned for spl. If you want lows, tune it to lower 30's. are you sure it was 22hz. That's more of a home theater type tuning. Too low for car audio

i am pretty sure he wants SPL for a daily driver. not competition. in that case 40hz is a tuning frequency you would use if you wanted spl in a daily driver.
