right to the point.

box is 40" wide, 18" deep, and 38" tall.

subs are on the 40x38 side, port is facing up on the 40x 18 top.

the way it is setup my subs are visible somewhat in my back window.

if i made a new box that same exact way, except put an extension so it was like a "cover" for the subs, (so basically another 40x38 sheet about 4" away from the subs cone).

if i did that and left just the top of that slab vented, could i use something like that for the port?

i hope someone understands what im saying.

basically i want it to serve the purpose of hiuding subs BUT im wondering if i do this would it act as a tunable port

so u want the port over the subs.. like involve what you are adding infront of the subs as part of the port? i think it would loose some sound but trust an expert if thats what u mean

What you have going is, in a sense, a bandpass setup more than a port. I would have to see pics to fully understand, but the bottom line is if it sounds ok, then you are good. I don't see any reason this will hurt anything other than change your fb.
