ok, went out and tried it on AC on a 43 hz sine wave. at my gain set about half way, it read 6.5 i think. with my gain maxed out it read only 21.??. that website said the nominal voltage of my amp at 1 ohm is 34.6 volts. but im not read near that at what i had it set before, or even when gain is maxed. and im def not gonna max out my gain when sub is hooked up because it would obliterate my sub... im lost. :-(

thanks mark.. it was a lil hard to understand his accent, but i managed. and im doing everything he is doing. except im playing a 43hz sine wave instead of 50.. i dont think that this is the determining factor. i think its something else that im not seeing. im setting it to AC 200. gain=0, bb off, all radio eq=0. unplug sub from amp, put + in + and - in -.. i turn the volume to about 26 which realy is over 3/4 but those kenwoods volumes are crazy. 43 hz tone. turn my gain up and notice very little rise in the voltage..

Use a 50 Hz test tone. Make sure you have the Pre-out level all the way up on the HU.

Yea, sub level adjustment on the HU is what I was thinking.... and this should be a no brainer but make sure the subs ain't connected to the amp...

Snow reminded me of a setting on my kenwood that could yeild a good bit of difference. I do know the with my Kenwood, If the internal amplifier of the H.U.is turned off if enhances the Preout voltage. Of course you would only keep it that way if you aren't using the speaker connection directly off of the H.U. and was using an amp for your mids/highs as well as your subs..

I'm not snow, but it should be somewhere in the audio settings, look in your manual.
